Individual Counselling

Individual counselling is a space just for you. It is a place to talk openly about what you are going through, gain clarity, and begin working through the challenges that may be holding you back. I focus on helping you feel more understood, supported, and connected.

Couple Counselling

Relationships can be meaningful, but also challenging. You may find yourselves having the same arguments, feeling misunderstood, or growing distant from one another. Couples counselling offers a space to work through these difficulties together, improve communication, and rebuild a sense of closeness and understanding.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach to counselling that focuses on our emotional experiences and our need for connection. Developed by Dr Sue Johnson, EFT is grounded in the understanding that emotions play a central role in how we relate to ourselves and to others.

When we feel disconnected, whether from a partner or within ourselves, it can lead to patterns of distress, such as withdrawal, conflict, or a sense of loneliness. EFT helps us slow down and understand these patterns, so we can begin to respond in new ways that feel safer and more connected.

In therapy, we will explore the deeper emotions and needs that may be difficult to express, and to create new experiences of connection both within yourself and in your relationships.

EFT is a structured, experiential approach grounded in attachment theory, drawing on the work of John Bowlby and contemporary affective neuroscience. It is supported by a substantial body of empirical research demonstrating its effectiveness, particularly in the treatment of relational distress.

EFT conceptualizes psychological distress as arising from disruptions in attachment bonds and difficulties in processing emotional experience. The model focuses on identifying and transforming maladaptive interactional patterns (in couples) and intrapsychic emotional processes (in individuals).

Interventions in EFT are process-oriented and emphasize:

  • accessing and deepening primary emotional experience
  • restructuring interactional patterns
  • fostering corrective emotional experiences
  • promoting secure attachment and emotional accessibility
  • focusing on the development of a secure internal model

I have completed advanced trainings in EFT for both individuals and couples. If you are interested in learning more about this approach, you may visit the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) for additional information.

"Emotional bonding is a biological need, not a weakness."

What to Expect in Counselling

Sessions move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel ready to. My role is to support you in exploring your experiences with care, curiosity, and respect.

While some people may find clarity within a few sessions, meaningful and lasting change often takes time and develops over the course of our work together. My work also integrates elements from other approaches depending on your needs.

How counselling may help

  • Unpack the root causes of your challenges
  • Make sense of your responses—behaviors, emotions, and thoughts
  • Identify and break free from negative coping cycles
  • Regulate intense emotions
  • Regain a sense of control when life feels overwhelming
  • Cultivate self-compassion
  • Realign your life with your goals and values
  • Strengthen your relationships with yourself and others
